Firstly, I just want to say Happy Christmas and I hope you had a great day with family and friends but the christmas period is nearly over and its time think ahead to 2014 and what is holds for your business.

I’m sure you will be thinking of new years resolutions, I know I will especially when it comes to my business however now is the time to re-evaluate what is and what isn’t working for your business which is why I wanted to share some great tips with you around generating more leads for your business.

The most important part of generating leads or as a great mentor once said to me “customer acquisition journey” is first having a strategy in place. If you don’t have a goal in place and a vision of how you want to achieve this then you won’t be able to do it. Planning is a huge part of business especially when it comes to generating leads. Part of creating any kind of strategy includes redefining your business so make sure you do this as part of your strategy for generating leads.

Having a strategy is the best place to begin when you want to start increasing your qualified business leads however, if you don’t research your market, you won’t know how to approach them. How big is your market? What does your audience need from you and most importantly, what are your competitors doing that makes your market buy from them and not from you? All of these questions need to be analysed before you can start proving your strategy and increase your leads for 2014.

Part of generating online leads for your business is looking at your website to improve how much traffic you’re actually receiving. SEO is such a powerful tool now and doing your market research to find out what keywords your target market are searching for to find your business is a key piece of information. The use of Google Adwords is key for this part of your strategy. It will take some time to do this research however it will allow you to adjust your website content to make your business more search engine friendly.

You now have a strategy, researched your market and optimised your SEO and are ready to see the results. You will need to monitor your website analytics to see how many leads you are generating to see if your strategy is a success. You can do this through google analytics. Don’t forget to use your online marketing channels e.g social media, email to really promote your business. If you aren’t seeing results, change your strategy.

The bottom line is if your customers aren’t connecting with your business, you really don’t have a business. Customers always come first and if their needs aren’t being fulfilled, you need to rethink your approach.
